LIF Application
The CDC delivers a Local Initiatives Fund (LIF) which is financially supported by FedNor/Industry Canada. This fund allows the CDC to provide financial contributions to not–for–profit organizations which support incremental local community economic development projects/initiatives that conform to the CDC’s mandate. The amounts available range from $100 to $5,000 per project/initiative.
Who is eligible?
First Nation, municipalities or other non–profit community organizations operating within the boundaries of the CDC of Sault Ste. Marie & Area, stretching from Montreal River to the North, Laird Township to the East and Prince Township to the West.
What types of projects are considered eligible?
• Marketing/Promotional activities
• Pre–feasibility studies
• Community ICT strategies/projects
• Projects to promote innovation and new technology
• E–commerce promotions
• Development of on–line business services
• Feasibility/business plans
• Research projects
• Environmental assessment reports
• Leadership/capacity building (seminars/workshops)
• Community tourism events
• Capital purchase small–scale capital projects
• Other community–based economic development projects
• Project implementation
Types of projects considered ineligible
• Conferences/conventions with no ongoing economic development impact
• Ongoing operational activities of the applicant
• For–profit activities
• Activities that create financial dependencies on government funding sources
• Activities requiring other FedNor/Industry Canada contributions in addition to the Local Initiatives Fund contribution
